The International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS) offers surface marine data spanning the past three centuries, and simple gridded monthly summary products for 2-degree latitude x 2-degree longitude boxes back to 1800 (and 1degreex1degree boxes since 1960)--these data and products are freely distributed worldwide. The five objectives of this mission  include collecting atmospheric and oceanographic data from the Gulf Stream during winter months for inclusion in European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)'s weather forecasting pipeline, and to collect dissolved CO2 measurements from Gen2 ASVCO2 systems to understand carbon flux in the area. If pCO2 is calculated, the TEMP_DEPTH_HALFMETER sensor should be used as the primary sea surface temperature when calculating pCO2.
